Mobile Spanish Academy Mission

Mobile Spanish Academy

A city in Alabama, Mobile includes a lot of Spanish history and culture, including Hernando de Soto’s Spanish expedition in the year 1540. Mobile has a lasting population that continues to grow, along with that of residents who come from Hispanic or Latino descent. In 2006, Mobile reported to the U.S. Census a population of 194,822. Of that number, 2,326 were Hispanic or Latino and 1,773 stated they used the Spanish language in their homes.

Mobile shows its commitment to the Spanish culture with events like the Mobile International Festival, which occurs in November of this year. Area libraries also host events and work to educate the public by making materials available so they can learn about Spanish heritage. Some other examples include mariachi bands and salsa dancing. Some of these events are centered specifically at children, so they can learn more about Hispanic and Latino culture.

Mobile’s diversity and strong traditions when it comes to heritage of Hispanics and Latinos are just two examples of why youngsters would benefit from learning the Spanish language. What is your reason for wanting your children to learn the language? Please share your ideas with us by filling out the feedback form found on the right side of this page.
